Stash Saturday

Saturday, August 30, 2008

I mentioned last week that my reasoning for Stash Saturday is using scraps, using old products and basically it's a con so that instead of tidying up my table I just use the stuff rather than put it away, lol. As I've been using 3 Bugs in a Rug a lot this month I had one half sheet of patterned paper left of their Christmas line and didn't want to put it back alone. So I punched the circles from the sheet, and used coordinating papers to make a few cards.

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Sticker: JoAnns; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Rub-on: JoAnns; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Rub-On: 3 Bugs in Rug; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

As you can see all of them have the same design, if something works just go with it! I am really building up a Christmas card stash now! How about making some Christmas cards this weekend? Get prepared! The holiday season will soon be here!

Enjoy the weekend...

Updated template pack in store!

Busy trying to repackage everything and get all my products conformed to one preview model, which is a long and tedious job but I am getting there. Part of this process is repackaging the templates, adding sizes together and offering them in bundles and as singles. I know I sometimes only like one or two out of a bundle and prefer having the option to buy them individually so I figured I'd repack them into singles.

Also remember that the August promo code runs out today!!! Get 25% off your order by entering the code: 25OFFDH at checkout!

Bundle #2 was previously called Sampler set 2, which were once templates offered on the blog for limited time. So if you missed any now is you're chance to snap them up! The bundle costs just $4.50 for 6 layouts, but each layout has THREE versions! That's 18 templates in one pack!

Like I said though, the single packs are available also. Three versions in each pack, use one or use them all! Priced at $1.25 per pack.

ALL the templates will soon be available as singles and bundles, I just have to get around to redoing the landscape size for the newer layouts. I also have plans to offer all the old card templates, brag books etc. If you have any suggestions for digital products just drop me an email (link to the left).

More soon!

Photo Friday

Friday, August 29, 2008

Decided it was time to implement some changes around here. Waaaaay back did a photography challenge each month and thought I should try and implement that again. I had this brand spanking new camera in December and I hardly know how to use it, so I figure a monthly challenge is in order! This challenge is again like most challenge on here, for me, if you wanna join in feel free, if not then just put up with my ramblings :)

Confession: My camera is an SLR. I don't know how to use it properly.

Oh I've played with it, tinkered with the settings even though I don't know what I'm doing and I even read the manual... half way. So that is my first challenge: READ YOUR MANUAL! Seriously we need to know the stuff they include in there! Make sure you have your manual AND camera in front of you. Don't try and understand ALL the knobs, buttons, switches etc just know that they are there and have a vague understanding of what each section of your manual relates to! on the camera so it's not like a foreign body. Plus at least if someone says "Didn't you read the manual?" you can honestly say "YES!" Even if half of the information flew over your head... lol

'Course I have to FIND my manual first! I think it's in my camera bag....

Theme Thursday - thank you

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Theme Thursday this month is Thank You cards, and it's the last week! Wow time goes fast huh? I guess this fits Thursday and Saturdays posts as its all stash too! I got this DCWV card making pack 2+ years ago and hardly touched it. Found it again during my clean up and figured it's time to use that sucker! So I whipped up this card. You can't really tell in the pic but the brad on the flower is the same pink as the paper, it's one of those shimmer ones from Bazzill and doesn't photograph well.

Supplies: Card base, paper, sticker: DCWV; Scissors: EK Success; Brads: JoAnns, Bazzill; Flower: Prima;

Manufacturer Monday - 3 Bugs in a Rug

I said I'd get around to doing a layout and I did! I know, no-one faint!!! Wow it's been a while since I did a paper layout, and I can honestly say I REALLY enjoyed it! This one came together pretty quickly which doesn't happen that often for me. I decided to use the diamond paper and already had the photo printed as a reject from another project, then everything just came together. Nice when that happens. The journaling is a little blurred but I'm living with it... I tried a new technique and still ironing out the kinks.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill; Papers: 3 Bugs in a Rug; Stickers: 3 Bugs in a Rug; Photo corners: one heart... one mind; Rub-ons: Around the block; font: Times;

All in all I have to say I do have a soft spot for 3 Bugs in a Rug products. Their designs tend to be colorful and geometric which is my preference for papers. The only thing I'm not really sure about of theirs is the monogram letters. I'd prefer a smaller font to use for titles, like their sticker alpha's. Definitely looking to do more projects with 3 Bugs in the future!

Back later with the Friday Freebie winner!

Theme Thursday - Thanks!

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Thought I'd share a card this week I made a while ago and was published in the July issue of Scrapstreet Magazine. This one was easy to do as it's from one of my sketches (in the sketch archives somewhere, which I am working on collating).

As you can see I am still LOVING the Boxer stamps, and the am starting a love affair with their transparencies. Pretty much everything on this one is Boxer!

Supplies: Paper: Boxer Scrapbooks; Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View; Stamps: Boxer Scrapbooks; Ink: Clearsnap; Transparency: Boxer Scrapbooks; Buttons: Boxer Scrapbooks; Rub-on: One heart… One mind; Pen: Sharpie;

Also in the July was this layout I did for the sponsor spotlight. Have to say that I wasn't really pleased with it 100%. I like it but don't LOVE it. Probably cos it has my handwriting on it, and I was going through a "get it done" phase.

Supplies - Templates: The Crafter's Workshop; Cardstock: Bazzill' Paper: My Mind's Eye; Brads: Bazzill, Making Memories; Ribbon: Maya Road; Pens: Sakura; Photo editing: Photoshop;

That's it for today! Don't forget that Scrapstreet is currently accepting submissions for the October issue so get submitting!

Enjoy!

Manufacturer Monday - 3 Bugs in a Rug (wk 3)

Monday again and here is week 3 spotlighting 3 Bugs in a Rug. I decided that before I move on to a new line I should finish up using the Christmas papers I had, so I made a TON of cards. I'd estimate I am up to 40 Christmas cards at least. Unfortunately I can't share most of them yet as they are for upcoming articles, but here are two I made over the weekend.

This one uses one of my favorite card sketches I did, and the design works for so many occasions. Just saved all the scraps, cut them to 1" x 3" and layered them along the card. So simple and GREAT for using scraps!

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Paper: 3 Bugs in a Rug; Rub-on: JoAnns; Brads: Making Memories;

This one is soooo simple, just letting the paper do the work really on this one. Added a rub-on, brad and some stickles glitter. Oh and I have to say I am loving this card format lately.

Supplies: Paper: 3 Bugs in a rug; Brad: Little Black Dress Designs; Rub-on: JoAnns; Stickles: Ranger;

As I used up all my Christmas 3 Bugs stash I decided to move onto another line and one of my favorites from 3 Bugs is the Spicy line. Such fun colors. I needed a new journal so I decided to whip one up quick with these fun papers. This is just a spiral bound notebook.

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Papers, Stickers, Die Cut: 3 Bugs in a Rug; Ribbon: Maya Road; Adhesive: Scotch ATG

More 3 Bugs projects next week! Back later today with the Friday Freebie winners!

Enjoy!

Stash Saturday

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Ok I really scraped the bottom of the stash pile for this weeks project, not in a bad way just that EVERYTHING on this card is OLD, as in about 2 years old. The paper is from an old Scrapologie kit that I hoarded because it was one of those papers I liked but didn't think I could use on a layout, so it got filed away. Dragged it out and started with the paper, added cardstock scraps, been using vellum sentiment pack (found under a pile of rub-ons recently), and added the dotlets for some interest.

Cardstock: DCWV; Paper: mara-mi (floral), DCWV (dots) ; vellum: JoAnns; Dotlets: Making Memories

So what about all of you? Scrapping plans this weekend? Maybe try digging out a sheet of old paper and going from there? See where the creativity leads you!

Have a great weekend!
